We have ambitious plans in North Lanarkshire to improve outcomes and prosperity for all residents through a large-scale development and transformational change programme, which will maintain and create vibrant communities, stimulate economic growth and improve health and well-being.

We are seeking a proactive, self-motivated and solution focused Tenant Participation Officer to join our well established award winning Tenant Participation Team to develop and implement ways to encourage and support tenants and residents to actively engage in decision-making processes about housing services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver tenant participation strategies in line with the council's strategies and plans
  • Facilitate forums and events
  • Support development and sustainment of tenant association and community groups
  • Build capacity through training and supporting tenants to enable effective participation
  • Encourage under-represented groups to get involved in decision making
  • Prepare reports and develop written materials as required
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external organisations

This role, alongside contributing to the core team responsibilities will also have a focus on providing dedicated support for special projects, which includes but is not limited to developing and reviewing tenant focussed information and material.

About You
  • Possess an HND/Degree qualification or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience in delivery of tenant participation or community engagement activities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to organise events and facilitate meetings
  • Knowledge of tenant participation legislation and good practice
  • Proactive and solution focused
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in supporting tenants or community groups to build capacity
  • Be able to travel across North Lanarkshire and attend events out with normal working hours

  • This role operates on a hybrid basis with a combination of home working, office attendance within the Civic Centre, Motherwell and site visits/meetings as required across other locations.

Work pattern: 35 hours per week - Monday - Thursday: 8:45am - 4:45pm (including a 55 minute unpaid break); Friday: 8:45am - 4:15pm (including a 50 minute unpaid break)

This is a temporary position until 12/01/2028.
