Are you pragmatic and highly motivated to achieve your goals? Would you like to be involved in key projects across North Lanarkshire? An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a Chartered Surveyor to join North Lanarkshire Council to deliver our large-scale Ambition Plan for regeneration, inclusive growth, housing development and our housing purchase scheme.

Based at Civic Centre, Motherwell, you will be part of a team responsible for the provision of a co-ordinated property service disposing of and acquiring commercial and residential land and buildings. You will be MRICS qualified with a degree level qualification (or equivalent) in a property related subject. You should have considerable to substantial experience in commercial property valuation together with demonstrable experience of marketing and negotiating sales and acquisitions of land and property. Experience of residential valuation would be advantageous but not essential as support to learn this will be provided if required. Experience of property development, property management and public sector working would be advantageous but are not prerequisites.

You will be self-motivated and confident, be computer literate with excellent IT and interpersonal skills, be capable of working on your own initiative and as part of a team in line with performance standards and deadlines. Familiarity with property management systems would be helpful. The ability to travel throughout North Lanarkshire is essential for which a full driving licence and a suitable vehicle are required.

Hybrid working currently comprises of 5 office days and 5 working from home in every 2-week period (may be subject to future change). If preferred, office access is available full time. This position is temporary for a period of up to 1 year for a maternity leave cover.

Work pattern: 35 hours per week - Monday - Thursday: 08:45 - 16:45 (including a 55 minute unpaid break) Friday: 08:45 - 16:15 (including a 50 minute unpaid break)
