We are looking to grow our Invest NL team and have opportunities for a Senior Planning Officer, Planning Officer, Environmental Health Officer and two Senior Building Standards Surveyors.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing bespoke advice to potential developers to help co-ordinate and accelerate the statutory consent process to facilitate increased investment and deliver positive outcomes.
  • Assisting in the delivery of an effective service for major development applications including council investment projects and programmes in close collaboration with other council services and external agencies.
  • Contributing to the review of and further development of the end-to-end process for statutory consents to improve the efficiency of the statutory consent process in North Lanarkshire.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Planning Officer: Degree or Diploma (recognised by RTPI) in Town Planning or related subject; Membership of Royal Town Planning Institute; Extended post qualification planning experience; Awareness or familiarity with current and upcoming development pressures such as data centres is desirable; Collaborative partnership experience is desirable.
  • Senior Planning Officer: Degree or Diploma (recognised by RTPI) in Town Planning or related subject; Membership of Royal Town Planning Institute; Considerable post qualification planning experience; Supervisory experience is desirable; Awareness or familiarity with current and upcoming development pressures such as data centres is desirable; Collaborative partnership experience is desirable.

For both roles you’ll need to be business and customer-focused, with an ability to problem solve and achieve good outcomes. You should have a sound understanding of relevant legislation, policy and good practice in your field with excellent organisational and IT skills and good written and verbal communication skills.
