With a new five-year Programme of Work to 2028 in place, we are recruiting for the role of Planning and Compliance Assistant to support our ambition.
You will have the opportunity to work closely with our key partners to monitor and manage the receipt, collection and financial spend of developer contributions to ensure compliance with planning permissions and the efficient and transparent financial management of contributions. You will proactively monitor identified planning conditions to ensure compliance with planning permissions to minimise risk to the Council. You will also review file records for significant risk planning conditions and identify these to the Planning Enforcement Officer/planning case officer. Additionally, you will assist with audit and quality checks of the council’s system of condition compliance/enforcement.
You should be educated to SVQ3/HNC level or equivalent and have experience working with the general public, providing advice and guidance. Knowledge of planning legislation and policy at local and national levels is desirable but not essential.
You will be joining a welcoming, dynamic and flexible team within Planning and Place, operating a hybrid model of home-working and office-based work at the Civic Centre in Motherwell. You will be required to travel throughout North Lanarkshire to undertake the duties of this post and the service has access to pool cars.
