We are looking for a positive and confident solicitor to support the work of the Council and Legal, Democratic & Strategy covering a period of maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Commercial and Property team to advise on contract and procurement matters.

You will be required to advise Council officers on the Council’s internal governance arrangements in respect of procurements and commercial contracts. You must be a fully qualified solicitor and hold a Diploma in Legal Practice or equivalent, as well as a current unrestricted Practising Certificate from the Law Society of Scotland. Knowledge and practical experience of contracts and procurement law is essential.

You should be an excellent communicator with the ability to work to deadlines and manage a large caseload and be adaptable to change. This post is politically restricted in compliance with the Local Government and Housing Act 1989. The successful candidate will be required to obtain a criminal conviction check through Disclosure Scotland prior to commencing in this role.

Work pattern - Hybrid working: 35 hours per week - Monday to Friday - 08:45 to 16:45. This post is temporary maternity cover for up to 12 months.
