North Lanarkshire Council is the largest social landlord in Scotland with 36,000 tenants. This post sits within the finance function providing support to the Housing service. Reporting to the Income Officer, you will play a key role in the administration of Direct Debit processes for the collection of rent and in ensuring that all other forms of rent payments are accurately and promptly allocated to tenants’ accounts. This will include assisting in the reconciliation of income between the rent accounting system and the bank account.

You will ensure that the Rent System is kept up-to-date and accurate and produce regular management reports. You will be a confident, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual with a positive disposition. You will be required to display initiative and work well within a team environment. In undertaking these tasks, you will be a key member of the team ensuring compliance with the council’s financial regulations and schemes of financial delegation.

Applicants should have a minimum of two years’ practical experience within a finance environment and be able to demonstrate strong numeracy, communication, and interpersonal skills. As the role involves daily telephone contact with tenants, excellent customer service skills are essential. Additionally, the key duties of the post require sound knowledge and practical experience of using spreadsheets, along with the ability to organise work effectively to meet deadlines. You should be educated to higher level or equivalent as a minimum.

Experience of HSMS (Housing Rent system), Direct Debit and BACS processes and knowledge of other finance related systems such as general ledger or debtors are desirable. Possession of ECDL or AAT Level 2/HNC/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent relevant qualification is also desirable.

The post will follow the hybrid model of home-working and office-based work in the Civic Centre, Motherwell. Applications made on a job sharing basis will be considered. 2 posts: Full Time, Permanent (35 hours: Monday – Thursday 8.45 – 16.45 & Friday 8.45 – 16.15)
