Role Overview: You will be based within one of our depots and be an integral part of the Operations team, reporting to the Shift Leader (Land and Waste) for the day‑to‑day management of the Council's Land and Waste function, which includes Streetscene and Waste operations.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and programme day‑to‑day activities for the Land and Waste team.
- Ensure the safe and efficient use of equipment and materials.
- Supervise and support staff, delegating tasks and providing guidance.
- Prioritise workloads and lead a team in solving operational problems.
- Maintain high standards of work quality and compliance with health and safety and safe systems of work.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Education to at least SVQ3, HNC, Apprenticeship level or equivalent in a relevant subject.
- Extended relevant experience with a customer‑focused approach.
- Capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in routine prioritisation and team leadership.
- Excellent organisational and IT skills.
- Full driving licence.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of health and safety and safe systems of work.
Work Pattern:
- Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday – 07:15 am to 17:00 pm (30‑minute unpaid break).
- Week 2: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday – 07:15 am to 17:00 pm (30‑minute unpaid break).
