We are looking for an Outdoor Assistant to join our Museums & Collections team. Your base will be Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life, Coatbridge, but you will work with all the museums in North Lanarkshire Council. Your role will involve a wide variety of activities that all aim to ensure the museums are well presented, safe and attractive for visitors.
To be successful in the post, you should enjoy working with people, have good interpersonal and communication skills, be self-motivated and have a flexible approach to work practices. You will use a tractor, forklift, van and other tools to help you work. You will demonstrate an ability to lift and carry items and undertake tasks such as setting up for events in all weathers, gardening, assisting with repairs and working with steam vehicles. You will also have a willingness to complete all necessary training and be available for out of hours key holding.
Your previous work experience of basic maintenance, key holding, driving, gardening, painting, basic repairs and janitorial activities will add to your success in this post. A full clean UK driving licence is essential. You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member through Disclosure Scotland and obtain a satisfactory membership check prior to commencing in this role.
The work pattern for this role will involve weekend working as part of a 5 over 7 shift pattern which includes weekend working. Working hours vary between 8am and 5:30pm. Interviews are likely to take place at Summerlee Museum of Scottish Industrial Life three weeks after the closing date.
