There is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and confident individual to join the community facilities team as an Assistant Area Manager. The community facilities team manage North Lanarkshire Council’s Community Facilities and bookings within community facilities and the school estate.

The Assistant Area Manager is responsible for supporting the caretaking and cleaning provision and ensuring the delivery of a high quality, professional service, delivering positive outcomes for the communities of North Lanarkshire Council.

Educated to HNC or equivalent level, you must have experience of working in a customer focused environment. It is essential that you have supervisory experience along with experience of supervising multi-site operations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to succeed in this role, and you must be able to both work as part of a team and lead a team. Experience of using Microsoft Office computer applications is also required along with knowledge of relevant Health and Safety requirements and an understanding of practices and procedures within cleaning/caretaking services.

To succeed in this role, you must be able to meet deadlines, prioritise work and, at times, work under pressure. It is important that you have the ability to direct the team in a positive manner, while also working on your own initiative. A flexible approach to work is required along with an understanding, caring approach in dealing with customers.

A driving licence is essential for this role. You will require to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member through Disclosure Scotland and obtain a satisfactory membership check prior to commencing in this role. You will be required to participate in a stand-by out of hours rota. This position is temporary until December 2026.

Work pattern: 35 hours per week - Monday - Thursday: 08:45am - 16:45pm (including a 55 minute unpaid break) Friday: 08:45am - 16:15pm (including a 50 minute unpaid break)
