North Lakes Children’s Services is a well-established local provider of residential care and education for boys aged -. We aim to improve resilience, self-esteem, and abilities of all the young people we work with. As a Residential Support Worker, you are expected to be “strong, committed, and passionate”. The young people are at the heart of everything we do. You should be a role model, a good listener, warm, approachable, and capable of inspiring and making a significant impact on a young person’s life. Promote, support, and facilitate the creation of “happy memories” and have fun with them. We are seeking permanent Support Workers with a warm, approachable manner who believe they can make a meaningful difference in a young person’s recovery from early life experiences.
Main Duties
- Supporting daily routines, including hygiene, meals, school runs, and activities
- Supporting room cleaning, developing life skills, promoting socialization, and bedtime routines
- Attending medical and other appointments
- Supporting activity plans
- Completing day sheets and working on targets with the boys
- Completing handover documents and daily paperwork
- Managing budgeting and shopping needs
- Conducting room checks and house cleaning
- Food shopping, meal prep, and kitchen hygiene
- Carrying out checks such as COSHH and fire safety
- Building relationships with families and planning family contacts
Additionally, you will serve as a Keyworker, creating special occasions and opportunities, building strong bonds, and showing genuine care.
All Applicants Must Have:
- Flexibility for sleep-in nights and shift work, including full days on and days off, with rotating start times of :, :, :
- An understanding of issues facing young people in care
- Relevant qualifications or willingness to work towards them (e.g., Diploma in Residential Childcare, Children and Young People's Workforce, NVQ Level in Health & Social Care)
- Excellent communication and listening skills
- Willingness to learn and work well in a team
- Willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check (paid for by us)
- Experience with EBD, social/residential work, or youth work is advantageous
- A full, clean UK driving license with flexibility to cover other homes as needed
