The predicted salary is between 13228 - 16486 £ per year.

In each home we have detailed shift planners/diaries/handover documents that outline the specific daily duties and tasks. These will be tailored to term-time (school days) or holiday periods as some tasks differ. The following is a summary of duties during term-time.

Responsibilities

  • Support all of the boys’ daily routines, including getting them up, promoting personal hygiene, meals, and school runs or activities.
  • Support room cleaning, development of life skills/independence, promote socialisation and support bed-time routines.
  • Attend medical or other appointments.
  • Support the plans on the activity planners.
  • Complete day sheets for the boys and work with them on their targets.
  • Complete handover documents/tasks and complete all daily paperwork.
  • Complete budgeting requirements and daily room checks and house cleaning tasks.
  • Complete any food/other shopping needs, including meal preparation and kitchen hygiene/laundry duties.
  • Complete specific checks such as COSHH, Fire Checks/Car checks.
  • Liaise with families, learn about special dates for boys, and note/mark these; plan and sort family time contacts.
  • As well as completing daily tasks, the role includes being a Keyworker, aiming to create special occasions and opportunities, build strong bonds, and demonstrate warmth, empathy and genuine care.

Flexibility in availability is required; the role involves sleep-in nights and shift work of 14 hours (typically 2 full days on, 2 days off) with rotating start times of 08:00, 12:00, or 14:00.

Understand the issues that face young people in care.

Hold Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People’s Workforce/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent – or be willing to work towards the required qualification.

Excellent communication and listening skills.

Be willing to learn and able to work well as part of a small team.

Be willing to undertake a DBS check at enhanced level if successful for the position; DBS check paid for by the employer.

Experience with Emotional Behavioural Disorder, Social/Residential Work or Youth Work would be advantageous.

Have a full, clean UK driving licence and be able to cover at other Residential Homes as needed.

Salary and Benefits

  • Unqualified Basic Salary: £13,228.80 pro rata (£27,781.80 FTE) per annum with potential to earn up to £16,486.08 with sleep-in shifts.
  • Qualified Basic Salary: £13,676 pro rata (£28,719.60 FTE) per annum with potential to earn up to £16,933.28 with sleep-in shifts. (Salary for qualified care workers is based on completion of a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare.)
  • Sleep-in allowance of £62.64 per night (potential extra earning up to £3,257.28).
  • Up to 6 weeks’ holiday per year.
  • Rota pattern of 2 days on, 2 days off, with staggered start times (8am, 12noon or 2pm).
  • All meals on duty provided.
