About Our School

North Lakes Children's Services is a well-established local provider of residential care and education for boys aged 7-18. We improve the resilience, self-esteem and abilities of all the young people we work with. Role Responsibilities

  • Support the improvement of wellbeing, readiness for learning, resilience and behaviour management within Herdley Bank School
  • Work with members of the education team to support young people's personal and academic development by removing barriers to learning
  • Promote positive learning behaviour with young people
  • Lead classes during PPA and absence cover
  • Deliver an enrichment activity
  • Support in lessons with academic understanding or pastoral, emotional or behavioural need
  • Respond to immediate concerns, clarifying the situation
  • Create and collate information relating to lessons and interventions delivered
  • Assist in the preparation of information relevant to meetings about pupils
  • Be an advocate for the ethos of Herdley Bank School
  • Lead on intervention, which includes reading and phonics, reviewing progress made by young people
  • Develop the role of Pupil Voice, liaising with the Senior Leadership Team about the Pupil Council
  • Develop relationships with parents / carers, taking an active role in transitions and consultation visits
  • Lead ELSA sessions and complete training with the local authority

Requirements

  • Have a strong basic education, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills
  • Previous experience in a similar role, for example HLTA, Tutor or Unqualified Teacher
  • Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH / autism within an educational setting
  • Experience of behaviour management and techniques
  • Committed to professional development and willing to learn
