Technical Instructor (Animal Management)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and enthusiastic Animal Management Instructor to join our team within the Animal Management team at Hadlow College (part of North Kent College).

Reporting to the Animal Unit Manager, you’ll deliver practical instruction and demonstrations to students, while also providing vital technical support to the teaching team. This hands-on role involves maintaining the Animal Collection and ensuring all areas of the animal management unit meet the highest standards — both in welfare and presentation — for students, parents, and visitors alike.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver practical demonstrations and instruction in animal care
• Support teaching staff in preparing and maintaining practical learning environments
• Assist in the upkeep of the Animal Collection and unit facilities
• Ensure a professional and engaging experience for students and stakeholders
• Manage stock levels and support procurement of feed, bedding, and equipment
• Communicating with relevant industry professionals.

What We’re Looking For:

• Minimum Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject
• First aid certificate, or willingness to gain one upon appointment
• Ability to work flexibly on a shift-rota basis
• Practical experience in the animal care industry
• Experience working with young people in an educational or training environment (desirable)

The Role:

Where you’ll work: This role is based at our Hadlow campus.

Your hours: 37 hours per week (worked on a shift rota basis across 7 days of the week) / 52 weeks per annum, FTE1.

Your pay: £25,136 to £27,474 per annum full time equivalent, dependent on qualifications and experience.
