SALARY: Up to £43,464 FTE plus Pension

JOB TYPE: Permanent

HOURS: 2 roles – 0.5 FTE, 18.5 hours per week in Stevenage and 1 Full time in Stevenage

About the Role:

We are looking for an outstanding teacher who is motivated and committed to the success of their students. If you can bring Maths to life in a way that engages, inspires, and leads to high achievement, then you will be successful here at NHC. Applications are also welcomed from fractional applicants.

You will develop and deliver dynamic learning programmes that meet the needs of learners and utilize a diverse range of teaching and learning strategies. You will plan and deliver Maths in a group setting to learners of varying abilities.

About the Organisation:

The College operates across three main campuses in Stevenage and Hitchin, employing over 650 staff. With a turnover of £30m, the college provides learning opportunities to over 10,000 students each year, from study programmes for 16-18 year olds and apprenticeships through to adult provision locally, regionally, and nationally. We were judged Good by Ofsted at our last inspection in December 2023, with outstanding features.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the promotion of courses and the recruitment and enrolment of students.
  • Ensure effective assessment of students to help ensure that learning meets individual needs.
  • Maintain a safe learning environment by supporting students in understanding how to keep themselves and others safe and notifying management of any risks.
  • Promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
  • Utilize a wide range of teaching and learning tools to create and plan interesting and engaging learning opportunities.
  • Deliver outstanding learning, using creative strategies that inspire and engage students to reach their full potential.
  • Provide students with academic and pastoral support to help them achieve their goals.
  • Mark and assess students’ work, providing feedback that supports improvement.
  • Take responsibility for the progress and achievement of all students on your course.
  • Champion our Maths and English strategy and embed their development in your teaching.
  • Lead a programme or course, maintaining high standards of behavior and performance, and providing high-quality experiences to raise students’ aspirations.
  • Liaise with student support functions, external agencies, and parents to help ensure good or better progress.
  • Use and analyze program data to support effective course management.
  • Deliver IAG to support students’ decision-making and high rates of progression.
  • Contribute to the effective management and promotion of equality and diversity.
  • Work in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act, ensuring a safe environment for staff, students, and visitors.
  • Promote safeguarding and the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
  • Work according to North Hertfordshire College’s policies and procedures.
  • Perform duties as required, appropriate to the post’s grade.
