We are currently assisting one of the world's leading forensic and expert witness consultancies within construction and engineering to strengthen their team in the Kingdom. This globally respected consultancy offers specialist quantum, delay and technical advisory services in the Middle East, as well as across Europe, APAC and the US. They offer independent expert witness, forensic and advisory services, particularly specialising in complex, high value disputes, international and commercial arbitration/litigation.
The existing global team boasts highly respected experts who have testified across the globe; however, this remains a business humble and loyal to its core principles, still early on its journey to become the market leader in both quality and reach.
Responsibilities
- Reporting to a Managing Director based in Dubai working within a specialist team as a delay and planning specialist.
- Supporting the workload of Delay expert witnesses.
- Forensic investigation of project delays.
- Supporting live project work relating to project planning or distressed project advisory work.
- Providing independent expert opinion on delay matters and helping clients through complex arbitrations and contentious matters.
- Working with the Dubai, Middle East and wider international team, including noted experts.
- Helping to identify the best strategy for individual claim, dispute and arbitration matters in order to assist clients.
- The preparation of prospective and retrospective delay analyses across various project types.
- Assimilation of technical information along with evidence of delays and the presentation of information in both programmes and reports.
- The preparation of written reports for use in negotiation, as well as formal dispute resolution.
Requirements
- Suitable candidates will be looking to specialise further within delay and disruption analysis and dispute resolution, ideally with ambitions to be an expert witness.
- Degree and ideally also master's degree qualified in relevant construction and/or law; additional qualifications and charterships viewed favourably and ongoing professional development supported and encouraged.
- Strong analytical problem-solving and communication skills are essential.
- Recent experience either as a Delay Consultant or Delay Senior Consultant.
- Ideally, but not essential, experience of assisting experts in arbitration-related work.
- Ideally your early career will stem from a minimum of five years’ experience as a construction project planner, engineer, construction or project manager.
- A detailed understanding of different methods of delay analysis / SCL protocol.
- The ability to use planning software such as Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject and/or MS Project.
- A good working knowledge of various standard forms of contract, including NEC and JCT & FIDIC; demonstrable understanding of contract and law in particular relating to planning and delay.
- Strong written and oral presentation skills.
- Experience drafting delay-related reports or briefing documents for management or stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate highly technical material to a non-technical audience.
