About Us

North East Updates is one of the largest media platforms in the region, covering local news, what’s on, business, food, lifestyle and more. We also run Newcastle Supporters Worldwide, a fast‑growing football media brand dedicated to NUFC fans around the world. We are expanding and looking for a talented and driven Content Creator to join our team.

This is an exciting, fast‑paced role ideal for someone who lives and breathes content creation, is confident behind a camera, and passionate about the North East.

Role Overview

As a Content Creator, you’ll produce engaging video and social media content across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. You’ll attend local events, restaurant launches, fan events, press opportunities, and newsworthy stories to create original and compelling content.

You’ll also play a key role in our Homeless Christmas Meal campaign PR and work with local businesses, creators, and organisations to build new partnerships and content features.

This role includes content creation for both North East Updates and Newcastle Supporters Worldwide, so being a passionate Newcastle United fan is essential for at least part of the position (unless the role is split across two people).

Key Responsibilities

  • Create high‑quality short‑form video content (Reels, Shorts, TikTok) and long‑form video for YouTube and Facebook.
  • Attend local events, venue openings, restaurants and attractions to film reviews and feature content.
  • Respond quickly to breaking news and trending stories with fast, engaging video content.
  • Interview local people, business owners, and public figures.
  • Attend newsworthy stories on location and act as a field reporter when required.
  • Film matchday fan reaction videos and conduct interviews pre/post NUFC games (home and away preferred).
  • Build local partnerships and source community‑led stories.
  • Work alongside our Homeless Christmas Meal campaign and assist with PR video content.
  • Use CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro or similar to edit content to a high standard.
  • Work closely with the team to plan content calendars and story ideas.
  • Optional: Support with scripts, thumbnails and posting content across pages.

Requirements

  • Experience creating video content for social media.
  • Strong video editing skills using CapCut and/or Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Confident on camera and comfortable speaking in public.
  • Great storytelling ability and creative mindset.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours – including some evenings/weekends.
  • Knowledge of social media trends, short‑form video strategies, and growth tactics.
  • Full UK driving licence or willingness to travel around the North East.
  • Strong knowledge of Newcastle United and fan culture (for NSW content).
  • Based in the North East of England.
  • Experience in reporting, journalism or presenting.
  • Good understanding of Facebook, TikTok and YouTube monetisation.
  • NUFC season ticket holder or regular away fan (preferred).
  • Previous experience working with brands or sponsorships.
  • Ability to shoot using DSLR or mirrorless cameras.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Commission on paid partnerships you secure.
  • Fun, creative role with real freedom to shape ideas.
  • Full access to events, restaurants and press invites.
  • Opportunity to grow with a rapidly expanding media brand.
  • Potential for additional roles within NUFC coverage and YouTube series.

Open to Different Options

  • Open to freelancers or part‑time applicants.
  • Role can be split between two candidates (e.g. general NE content creator + NUFC‑focused creator).

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Apprenticeship, Freelance

Pay: £22,800.00-£25,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 37 per week
