Derwent Hill is owned and operated by Sunderland City Council, located in a world-class location in the English Lake District - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was one of the first local authority outdoor education centres in England and has been in operation since 1962. The centre has grown since then, and we now provide a wide range of services, but our core purpose is still the same; to provide high-quality residential outdoor education for the children and young people of Sunderland, which includes some of the most deprived areas of the country. Derwent Hill has established a reputation as one of the premier outdoor education centres in the UK.
We are looking for a Venue Manager to work as part of our Senior Management Team to oversee and develop all areas of Derwent Hill's venue and its facilities, including our accommodation, catering, maintenance, and grounds. In return, we provide an excellent benefits package including a local government pension scheme and flexible working arrangements.
The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and will be subject to a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Derwent Hill safeguards students and staff by being committed to Sunderland Safeguarding Board procedures.
The usual working week is Monday to Friday 9 am - 5 pm, but due to the nature of the role, some weekend working and unsociable hours may be required to manage events.
If you would like to discuss the post, please contact Matthew Ellis at Derwent Hill on 017687 72005 (opening times are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday). Applications should be made online at northeastjobs.org.uk/sunderlandcitycouncil. For further assistance, contact Customer Enabling Services by email. Please note that CVs are not acceptable.
