The North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board is seeking an experienced and motivated Estates Manager to play a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of high-quality primary care services across our North / South Patch. This is a key senior role within the Estates function, providing expert leadership, guidance and assurance on all aspects of Estates. You will act as the principal point of contact for GP practices and stakeholders, ensuring that estates decisions support service sustainability, value for money and alignment with national and local NHS priorities.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide specialist expertise and professional advice on Primary Care, Community and Secondary Care Estates matters, supporting GP practices and partners to navigate complex estates requirements.
  • Lead and support Strategic Estates Groups, driving forward agreed work programmes and ensuring successful delivery of estates initiatives.
  • Take a lead on defined ICB wide priorities such as Section 106, GP Premises Improvement Grants, and other strategic estates initiatives, as agreed through annual objectives.
  • Manage and develop staff within the team, undertaking line management responsibilities and supporting continuous professional development.
  • Work closely with finance colleagues to support forecasting, rental reimbursements and business case development.
  • Act as a deputy for the Senior Head of Estates when required, contributing to leadership and decision making at a senior level.

The ICB works with our Provider Collaborative too, this includes the 11 NHS Foundation Trusts in the region, to deliver our shared priorities.

Job responsibilities
  • You will lead the day to day management of the Primary Care Estate, supporting GP practices with:
  • Rent reimbursement requests
  • Business cases for extensions, refurbishments and new developments
  • Improvement Grant applications
  • You will be the subject matter expert for Primary Care Estates, overseeing:
    • Performance management of estate assets
    • Space utilisation and financial analysis
    • Engagement with providers to develop and approve estates plans and business cases
    • Delivery and implementation of approved developments
  • You will also contribute to Quality and Equality Impact Assessments, ensuring estates decisions support equitable access and high quality patient care.
  • Qualifications
    • An estates management or property degree or equivalent relevant experience
    Experience
    • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of performance managing large groups of staff at different levels of an organisation
    • Experience of managing teams successfully
    • Experience of successfully implementing change within teams and processes.
    • Experience of managing and resolving complex and sensitive staff issues with the utmost discretion
    • Demonstrable experience in working with GP Practices in regards to their estates requirements.
