What’s the role all about?
This is a key leadership role within our senior finance team, where you’ll take the lead in shaping and delivering high-quality financial advice across all areas of performance and governance. As a valued member of the Finance management team, you will oversee and drive delivery across a range of critical services, including business partnering with a focus on supporting our people related services, financial systems, transactions and VAT. It’s a diverse and challenging position, ensuring the Council maintains robust financial management and governance and offers a unique and rewarding opportunity to influence, innovate, and help shape the service.
What will your day look like?
You will take on a varied and impactful role at the heart of the organisation. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across all council areas, building strong relationships and ensuring effective financial controls are consistently in place. With a keen eye for detail, you will identify, manage, and clearly communicate financial risks, while providing proactive, high-quality financial advice to support informed decision‑making. Alongside this, you’ll play a key role in financial management and systems delivery, supporting financial performance, planning, and governance. Ultimately, your work will contribute directly to delivering the Council Plan and achieving meaningful organisational outcomes.
