We’re looking for an Organisation and Service Designer to support our exciting new project to transform Alternative Education Provision across North East Lincolnshire which will ensure children and young people are able to access suitable education provision that meets their needs and supports them to reach their potential.

What’s the role all about?

As an Organisation and Service Designer you will specialise in user-centred design working closely with Children’s Services Education, Inclusion and Integration colleagues, front-line services, other Transformation Team colleagues and the Insights Team in a multi-disciplinary project team.You will play a crucial role in helping to implement new ideas and identify opportunities to enhance public services for children, young people and families as part of the Council’s vision.

You will be working in a multi-disciplinary team which includes a delivery manager, data analyst and researcher focused on improving the end-to-end journey at scale, championing user-centred design whilst considering the Council’s objectives.

You will help us to understand the overall service including the user journey, systems, teams and processes involved. Working with a broad range of colleagues, partners and stakeholders you will look at the wider picture, thinking about how to connect the dots (products, people, technology and processes) to inform our design decisions and opportunities, support policy development and system change and the evaluation of our impact.

What will your day look like?

Your day will involve you guiding the multi-disciplinary team to see and think about the service or any technical solutions as part of a bigger, person-centred picture.

You will also be working to design the future service model including prototyping and testing the end-to-end service and individual service components.

You will spend time listening and facilitating conversations with service users and different stakeholders from within the organisation, or across the local partnerships, to build understanding of alignment around shared outcomes and uncovering user experiences and insights through a range of design research methods that will help build new ideas for service delivery.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is passionate about working collaboratively to make a difference and improve outcomes for children, young people, families and communities across North East Lincolnshire.

You will have demonstrable experience of designing services and working to agile principles and ideally confident using co-design approaches to bring different people together including service users and stakeholders.

You will have the ability to suggest solutions to help solve a problem, and have a passion for user-centred design, with excellent communication skills that enable you to quickly build relationships and trust with service users and those who provide those services.

You must be naturally curious, always looking to get to the root causes of problems, offer innovative responses and be willing to challenge the status quo. You will support us to communicate the story of our work and how we make decisions using design led, agile methodologies.
