To achieve this aim, our communications team is looking for an ideas-driven web adviser to help shape our digital content - delivering content to guide, support and inspire.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on usability, design, branding, and layout to colleagues across the council.
- Lead on quality control, conducting regular reviews and usability testing to ensure our digital platforms meet high standards.
- Use data and analytics to understand user behaviour and improve content based on evidence.
- Train and support colleagues, including Web Governance staff, helping them understand best practices in digital communication.
- Stay ahead of the curve, keeping up with the latest trends in web design, accessibility, and user experience - and bringing fresh ideas to the team.
- Collaborate with external suppliers when needed, ensuring third-party contributions align with our standards and goals.
You’ll be part of a dynamic communications team that values innovation, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Who are we looking for?
The successful person will:
- Have excellent written communication skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Understand how people use websites and can write with the user in mind.
- Be confident using content management systems (CMS) and digital tools.
- Have a good understanding of accessibility and usability principles.
- Enjoy working collaboratively and can manage multiple priorities.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience in a web content, digital communications or media role.
- Writing and design skills.
- Familiarity with web analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics).
- Knowledge of HTML or web accessibility standards (WCAG).
