The role will focus on project managing a range of ICT and digital initiatives, with a significant emphasis on Salesforce, the Council's CRM system. The majority of projects will involve managing the delivery of applications built within Salesforce by the internal Digital and Applications Team, reflecting the Council's approach to designing and developing a wide range of in-house solutions. These projects support the consolidation of systems across the organisation, helping to reduce duplication and improve efficiency.

The role will also include managing projects and system renewals outside of Salesforce, as well as contributing to procurement activity for larger or more complex projects. This will involve coordinating activity, managing delivery milestones, and working closely with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered effectively and on time.

We are seeking a highly organised and motivated individual to join our ICT team on a fixed term basis to cover maternity leave. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a busy, supportive environment and gain hands-on experience delivering digital and technology projects that support Council services and priorities. This is a fast-paced role that requires strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. You will need to be proactive, adaptable, and confident prioritising work in response to changing demands. Clear and effective communication skills are essential, as you will work closely with colleagues across services, ICT teams, and external suppliers. A working knowledge or understanding of Salesforce would be highly beneficial. While you do not need to be a technical specialist, experience of working with Salesforce as a CRM system, or of supporting or managing projects within a Salesforce environment, will be a distinct advantage.

This role offers valuable experience delivering digital change within a local authority setting and would suit someone who enjoys project management, thrives in a dynamic environment, and is looking for a fixed term opportunity to develop their skills and experience.

How to prepare for a job interview at North East Lincolnshire Council

Brush Up on Your Technical Skills

For an IT consulting role, be ready to demonstrate your technical prowess. You might face questions on systems integration, cloud technologies, or even troubleshooting specific software. If you have experience with tools like AWS, Azure, or even specific programming languages, make sure you can talk about them fluently.

Showcase Your Problem-Solving Approach

IT consulting is all about solving problems for clients. Think about how you can illustrate your approach to a past challenge using the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). It's a great way to show how you tackle complex issues and come up with effective solutions.

Know the Business Impact of IT Solutions

When discussing your experiences, focus not just on the tech solutions you implemented, but also on their business impact. Employers want to see that you can connect IT with organisational goals. Prep examples that highlight how your tech contributions improved efficiency or reduced costs for past clients or projects.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

Since IT consulting often involves teamwork and client interactions, expect behavioural questions that assess your interpersonal skills. Be prepared with examples that demonstrate your adaptability, communication skills, and how you handle client feedback. Before the interview, think of situations where you worked closely with clients to create effective IT strategies or changes.
