If you’re someone who enjoys working with people from all walks of life, who’s calm, understanding and professional—particularly when working closely with bereavement services—you’ll feel right at home here. You’ll be hands on, adaptable, and enthusiastic about good food, great service, and creating a supportive atmosphere for both customers and colleagues.
As our Catering Supervisor, you’ll play a key part in the day to day running of Reflections Tea Rooms. You’ll oversee a team of catering assistants, ensuring the Tea Room is fully staffed, organised and operating smoothly. Your responsibilities will range from supporting with ordering and serving food and drinks, to supervising food preparation and maintaining high hygiene standards. You will also take the lead in handling bookings for wakes and events, managing stock, and supporting the Operations Officer with purchasing and timetabling. The role includes opening the Tea Room and cashing up at the end of each day.
Each day will bring a mix of customer service, practical catering tasks, and supervisory duties. You might begin by opening the Tea Room, preparing the environment for customers, and checking stock levels. Throughout the day, you’ll support the team with taking orders, making drinks, preparing hot and cold food from the menu, and ensuring all hygiene procedures are met. You’ll help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming space and may need to resolve customer queries or complaints with professionalism and care. At the end of the day, you’ll complete cash reconciliation and close the Tea Room securely.
We’re looking for someone with supervisory experience, strong customer service skills, and confidence in basic food preparation. You’ll need to have good communication, literacy and numeracy, as well as an understanding of health and safety, food hygiene and safe use of catering equipment. A Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate is essential, and experience in stock rotation, cleaning procedures and complaint handling will be beneficial. Above all, we’re seeking someone committed to providing excellent service with integrity, honesty and a positive attitude.
This is more than a catering role — it’s an opportunity to be part of a small, supportive team delivering a thoughtful service in a unique and meaningful setting. You’ll work in a peaceful environment where quality, compassion and community matter. We value our staff, encourage continuous improvement, and live by our core values of openness, integrity and valuing people. If you want a role where you can make a real difference to someone’s day while developing your own skills, Reflections Tea Rooms is a great place to be.
