About the Role

We’re looking for a caring, practical and motivated person to join our casual Reablement Worker team at Borrowdale House. Borrowdale House is a specialist Rehabilitation and Extra Care service based in South Tyneside.

If you’ve previously worked in a care, reablement or support worker role and have helped people regain independence after a hospital stay, we’d love to hear from you.

As a Reablement Worker you will work closely with our Therapy and Support Leads, Registered Manager, and other professionals to ensure a high level of person-centred care is delivered using a therapy led, individualised reablement care and support plan and risk assessments.

A typical shift might involve supporting someone with daily routines, encouraging them to rebuild confidence, following therapy guidance, administering medication where required, and working with colleagues and families to support safe, person-centred care.

Who we’re looking for:

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working in Adult Social or Health care
  • Can support people using personalised, outcome‑based reablement plans
  • Communicates clearly and works well with families, colleagues and other professionals
  • Builds positive relationships with a wide range of people
  • Makes sound professional decisions
  • Is motivated to support positive change and improve services
  • Brings enthusiasm, drive and ambition to a supportive team

This is a casual role, offering flexibility to work around other commitments while supporting the service across days, evenings, nights, weekends and Bank Holidays. Some shifts may be offered at short notice, so we’re looking for someone who can be flexible and responsive

What You’ll Gain

We offer:

  • Access to staff networks and a robust wellbeing offer including face to face counselling if required
  • A supportive, people‑centred culture backed up by recent staff feedback
  • An opportunity to make a real difference to the community

We also offer an excellent benefits package and further information is available here: www.southtyneside.gov.uk/workinghere

South Tyneside Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment and an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure will be sought along with other relevant pre‑employment checks.

For those posts where there is a requirement to either work in or enter a Care Quality Commission Regulated Care Home (CQC) it would be preferred but optional, that you have been fully vaccinated against COVID‑19 (unless medical exempt) as a condition of employment.

We do not currently offer skilled worker visa sponsorship.
