Middlesbrough Council’s Public Protection Service is passionate about improving the lives and living standards of all residents, protecting the environment, protecting consumer interests, and supporting a strong local economy.
We are seeking to appoint a motivated and knowledgeable individual to take a lead role in improving housing standards and protecting tenants through the effective implementation of the Renters’ Rights Act and wider housing legislation. The role includes delivering licensing functions, monitoring compliance with housing and landlord laws, conducting housing standards assessments, investigating breaches and offences of housing laws and applying appropriate sanctions for non-compliance.
You will lead a team of Environmental Health Officers and Regulatory Compliance Officers and work alongside other Principal Officers and service managers to deliver wider Public Protection functions and corporate responsibilities.
We are particularly interested in candidates who have considerable knowledge and experience working in social or private sector housing and have proven skills, experience and qualifications in management and leadership.
Please note Middlesbrough Council do not currently offer sponsorships.
Together, we build confidence, grow skills, and make a real difference — by learning together, we achieve together.
We operate a Guaranteed Interview Scheme for applicants that can show they meet all the essential criteria and have indicated they have a disability, are a looked after young person, care leaver or a veteran.
