Reporting to the Neighbourhood Housing Manager, this role is central to maintaining safe, well-managed estates across North Tyneside.
The post holder will directly engage with tenants, leaseholders, residents, and community groups to ensure tenancy sustainment, address tenancy breaches, and support thriving communities. The Neighbourhood Housing Team delivers high-quality, customer-focused housing management services that benefit tenants and residents across the borough. We work collaboratively with internal departments, elected members, and external agencies to provide safe, sustainable, and inclusive neighbourhoods while supporting the Council’s wider housing and community objectives.
The core responsibility of the post holder is to manage all aspects of tenancy and estate management within a defined area. This includes:
- Change of tenancy sign‑ups
- Early intervention to prevent tenancy failure
- Enforcement of tenancy conditions
- Safeguarding vulnerable residents
- Conducting estate inspections
- Contributing to community engagement and improvement initiatives
The officer will ensure compliance with housing legislation, Council policies, and health and safety standards while supporting performance and service delivery objectives.
The successful candidate will build strong relationships with residents and tenants, acting as a trusted point of contact and advocate. You will work closely with colleagues and multi‑agency partners to resolve tenancy and neighbourhood issues, deliver estate improvement initiatives, and support residents’ wellbeing, ensuring the highest professional standards are maintained.
You will have experience in housing management or a customer‑focused service environment, with strong communication, problem‑solving, and organisational skills. The role requires empathy, integrity, and professional judgement in handling complex tenancy and safeguarding matters. Ongoing professional development and training will support further expertise in tenancy management, estate compliance, and community engagement.
Applications based upon flexible working arrangements are welcomed and will be given full consideration. A Basic Level DBS Check will be required for this post.
