Together for Children Sunderland is on a transformative journey to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people in Sunderland. We are an outstanding Ofsted‑rated Children’s service, committed to helping children, families, and our community thrive.

About the role:

Our children’s homes are warm, welcoming, and full of life. They’re places where children feel safe, supported, and valued—just like any family home. Picture movie nights in the lounge, chats over tea in the kitchen, and time spent outdoors in the garden. Every child has their own bedroom to personalise, and staff on sleep‑in duty have their own private space too. We provide a nurturing home for up to six young people.

We are looking for enthusiastic, tenacious and motivated Casual Residential Child Care Workers with experience of working with children and young people. In return you will receive appropriate training opportunities as part of your continuous professional development.

We want you to apply if you:

  • Have a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) or be willing and able to undertake this qualification.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service. We will also carry out an online internet search for information that is publicly available online that might suggest that you are not fit to work with children or young people.

“Due to recent changes in UKVI rules, this role does not meet the criteria for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship under the updated eligibility requirements effective 22 July 2025.”

Please contact Julie Jeffrey at togetherforchildren.org.uk for an informal discussion.
