About Us
At Ar Curam, we provide care, support and accommodation for children and young people aged between 8-17 years old in small residential care homes where we aim to achieve excellent outcomes for the children and young people in our care.
Positions Available
We are currently looking for additions to our team for our home in South Shields. Opportunities are available for dayshift, night shift, and also for bank workers to cover night shift. We are also seeking a Senior Residential Childcare Worker in the same home and have positions available in other homes in the Teesside area.
Responsibilities
- Actively and effectively safeguarding and promoting the rights of children and young people;
- Teaching life skills and coping strategies, building confidence, self‑esteem and resilience;
- Accompanying them to and from education, facilitating family time, and creating a warm, comforting and homely environment including all daily household tasks;
- Encouraging participation in local activities and hobbies;
- Monitoring, recording and completing all relevant paperwork involved with the young person’s care, with a good level of IT literacy.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Passionate about working with young people, motivated, empathetic and understanding;
- Ability to establish and build nurturing meaningful relationships with young people, understanding their views, wishes and feelings;
- Full driving licence is preferable; applicants without a licence will be considered in line with balancing the team’s needs and the Equality Act;
- Right to work in the UK;
- Enhanced DBS check and/or barred list check required; exemption under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
