Responsibilities
- Ensure the school is well presented and maintained to a high standard and that Health and Safety is promoted in all activity.
- Secure buildings and the site, including during out‑of‑school hours, and take remedial action if required.
- Open and lock premises, respond to security alarms or other call‑outs in accordance with agreed procedures.
- Undertake a range of handyperson duties as directed by the Head Teacher, such as remedial painting, decorating, repairs to fittings, taps, cisterns, and fitting shelves/notices.
- Monitor consumables and stock and inform of shortages through agreed processes.
- Carry out general porterage duties, including moving furniture, deliveries, and equipment within the school.
- Conduct regular health and safety checks of buildings, grounds, fixtures, fittings, and equipment, including compliance with fire safety regulations.
- Maintain safety of the outside, including clearing snow and treating main entrances, paths, car park, and yard areas with salt/grit as appropriate.
- Co‑ordinate and assist with deliveries, including unloading and moving to designated areas.
- Work with the Trust Estates Manager and Trust Central Teams to ensure statutory compliance and health and safety requirements are met.
- Carry out minor repairs as required.
