Are you an experienced leader in children’s social care, passionate about safeguarding and improving outcomes for children and families? We are seeking a Senior Manager – Social Work Practice to continue to lead and shape our statutory social work services in North Tyneside on a fixed term basis to support how we are able to take forward the National Social Care Reforms.
As an ‘Outstanding’ local authority we are proud of the services we offer to our children and families and are always seeking to improve. This is a pivotal role within our Children’s Management Team, reporting directly to the Assistant Director for Safeguarding and Children’s Services. You will provide visible leadership, drive innovation, and ensure high‑quality practice across a range of services including:
- Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH)
- Social Work Assessment Teams
- Child in Need and Child Protection
- Court Proceedings and Adoption
- Services for Children with Disabilities
What You’ll Do
- Lead transformational change and embed a culture of continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with statutory frameworks and inspection standards.
- Represent Children’s Social Care on strategic boards and partnerships.
- Champion the voice of children, young people, and families in service development.
- Manage large, complex budgets and optimise resources effectively.
- Provide professional advice to senior leaders and elected members.
About You
- Extensive experience in children’s social work, including safeguarding and court proceedings.
- Proven leadership skills and ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong knowledge of statutory frameworks and performance improvement models.
- Ability to influence, motivate and lead through change.
- Qualified Social Worker status and current registration with Social Work England.
This position is fixed term until March 2027.
