The higher education campus, based in the vibrant North East, offers a true Art School community where students collaborate across disciplines. We are expanding our staffing on our BA (Hons) Visual Effects degree. The Visual Effects programme prepares graduates for careers within the screen and related industries, developing both technical and creative expertise through industry-standard software, processes and collaborative production. The programme emphasises environment creation, compositing, storytelling and visual problem-solving, enabling students to develop their own professional identity while gaining the practical and technical skills required by contemporary visual effects industries.
We are seeking a dynamic degree-level Senior Lecturer to join our team and support the continued development, direction and growth of the programme. The person appointed will work within the Stage and Screen Faculty.
Skills and experience may include:
- Visual effects production
- Compositing
- CGI
- Environment creation
- Motion capture
- Camera tracking
- Procedural effects
- Virtual production
- Digital content creation
- Pipeline development
- Related areas of contemporary VFX practice
Essential to this role are excellent administrative, planning, and organisational skills, as you will take responsibility and lead in areas such as module leadership, assessment of student progress and attendance. You will collaborate with colleagues on the implementation of assessment procedures, contributing towards the growth of the programme.
We are looking for someone with relevant industry experience and professional contacts, as well as knowledge of current technologies, workflows and professional practice within the visual effects and wider screen industries. Experience of working collaboratively across creative disciplines and engaging with industry partners would be particularly valuable. Higher education teaching experience would be desirable.
