ROLE OF THE JOB
We\’re looking for aSenior Front-End Developerto help deliver high-quality digital services for the people of Northumberland.
You\’ll be part of a multidisciplinary agile team, working closely with designers, researchers, and service managers to build secure, accessible, and user-centred web applications. You\’ll contribute to the development of our core digital platforms, using modern frameworks and cloud technologies to create responsive, scalable solutions.
This role is hands-on and delivery-focused, ideal for someone who enjoys solving real-world problems through technology. You\’ll also mentor junior developers, share knowledge across teams, and help embed good engineering practices. Your work will directly improve how residents and staff interact with council services, making a meaningful impact across the county.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
- Leadership & Technical Expertise:Experience working in agile teams, mentoring junior developers, and contributing to the adoption of modern engineering practices. Demonstrates initiative and supports others to develop.
- Front-End Development:Strong technical skills in building secure, accessible, and responsive web applications and cloud platforms.
- User-Centred Design & Accessibility:Experience collaborating with designers and researchers to deliver inclusive services that meet WCAG standards, using established design systems.
- System Design & Delivery:Experience contributing to the design and delivery of complex systems, including automated testing, integration, and deployment. Able to deliver at pace while maintaining quality
