Permanent Part time 18.5 hours per week. Please note that this post is a Safer Recruitment post and will be subject to DBS clearance at the appropriate level. As an authority we want to make Hartlepool the best it possibly can be and want dedicated, driven and committed staff to help us achieve that. We are recruiting a dedicated, motivated and experienced Specialist Community Public Health Nurse to work as part of the team in our children’s hub (children’s social care multiagency front door) and new Multi Agency Child Protection Team as a Safeguarding Specialist Nurse.

Responsibilities

  • You will use your skills, knowledge and experience to assess risk and share appropriate health records as part of the multi agency team which includes social care, education, police and other agencies.
  • You will analyse health information, attend strategy meetings and offer health expertise in relation to risk and decision making.
  • You will understand the statutory requirements of the role regarding safeguarding and have the ability to support the wider 0-19 health team with safeguarding advice and supervision, as well as liaise with external health professionals when it is for the benefit of the child.
  • You will be confident to positively challenge in a professional capacity, seek escalation if necessary and always act in the best interests of the child.
  • You will be supported by the Named Nurse Safeguarding Children and Head of Services for Children’s Hub, and 0-19 Early Help.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Specialist Community Public Health Nurse with the knowledge, skills and experience described in the post description.
  • Understanding of safeguarding statutory requirements and ability to support the wider 0-19 health team with safeguarding advice and supervision.
  • Ability to liaise with external health professionals and multi-agency partners (social care, education, police).
  • Confident to positively challenge in a professional capacity and escalate when necessary.
  • Safer Recruitment and DBS clearance at the appropriate level.
