We have an exciting role on offer within our Resident and Business Support service as a Revenues and Benefits Technical Support Officer. This is a rewarding role where your expertise will make a real difference to our communities while helping shape and improve vital council services. Our Revenues and Benefits Service is at the heart of the Council, ensuring essential services are funded while providing crucial financial support to residents and businesses.
In this role, you’ll be part of a forward-thinking, fast-paced team, working on a diverse range of complex and impactful cases. This is more than a technical role; it’s an opportunity to influence service delivery, support colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement. You’ll take on a varied and engaging workload, including:
- Managing and responding to high-level enquiries such as complaints, Freedom of Information requests, Subject Access Requests and Councillor enquiries.
- Handling appeals and representing the Council at tribunals.
- Supporting enforcement activity, including attending court and progressing legal actions such as bankruptcy, charging orders and winding‑up proceedings.
- Providing expert technical advice across Resident and Business Support services.
- Delivering training and developing structured learning programmes, including inductions for new colleagues.
- Supporting quality assurance processes to maintain high service standards.
- Identifying opportunities for innovation, efficiency and service improvement.

- Significant experience within a Revenues and Benefits environment (Council Tax, Business Rates or Welfare Benefits is essential).
- Strong technical knowledge or the ability to quickly develop expertise.

- The ability to support change and contribute to service development.
