The North East Mayoral Combined Authority (North East CA) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Programme Manager to lead strategic active travel initiatives that help shape a cleaner, greener and better-connected region. This is your opportunity to play a vital role in delivering our Local Transport Plan’s vision for a safe, integrated and green transport network.

As Programme Manager – Active Travel, you will manage and co-ordinate the delivery of a number of capital and revenue projects including major schemes in a high-profile programme working closely with local authorities, transport providers, and a range of regional and national stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate and manage the region’s strategic active travel programmes aligned to the Mayor’s Local Transport Plan.
  • Develop project pipelines in collaboration with partners and support business case development from inception through to delivery.
  • Write and manage funding bids to unlock local and national investment, furthering the reach of the region’s programme of active travel delivery.
  • Ensure effective programme governance, risk, financial and performance management.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government departments and commercial partners.

About You

  • You bring demonstrable experience in programme or project management in transport, infrastructure or a related field.
  • You have a proven track record of managing programme or project delivery, stakeholder engagement and securing funding.
  • You are organised, analytical and an excellent communicator.
  • You’re passionate about sustainable transport and want to make a tangible impact on public health, the environment and regional connectivity.
