The Meadows Academy is situated in Spennymoor, Durham, and provides education for 75 pupils aged 11 to 16 years who have SEMHD as their identified primary need. The Meadows Academy joined the Trust in February 2025. Since that time, rapid progress towards improvement has been realised due to the commitment of the staff team, the positive direction of Leaders and robust support from within the Trust. We are now looking for a Home/School Tutor to deliver lessons to students in their home address and to provide outreach support.

The ideal candidate will have the skills to work with young people who have a variety of additional needs, giving particular attention to their social and behavioural as well as educational requirements. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for working with students and their families to assist in the reintegration of students into school and improving attendance.

Applications are welcomed from candidates who possess good communication and interpersonal skills, and will have proven ability to work as part of a team, as well as the flexibility and willingness to offer a range of skills in other key areas.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience of working with students with behavioural, social and emotional difficulties across KS3 and KS4 and have the ability to build effective working relationships.
  • Work collegiately to build on the strengths of the Academy and Trust.
  • Have an interest and passion for inspiring young people and an ability to deliver key skills in a cross-curricular way.
  • Have a commitment to realising each student’s highest potential achievement.
  • Have a full driving licence and use of their own vehicle.
