As a Transport Network Officer you will be working within the Council's Passenger Transport team which comprises of 14 members of staff and is based at County Hall, Morpeth. You will undertake the critical role of arranging school/college transport for children and young people as well as social services transport. You will also be involved in a whole range of activities covering areas as diverse as assessment of eligibility, child safeguarding and implementing cost-saving initiatives. We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter with a passion for delivering excellent customer service who is also commercially minded.

Requirements of the job:

  • Good general level of education, literate & numerate with a passion for delivering excellent customer service.
  • A great team player with well-developed interpersonal skills and able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with colleagues and members of the public.
  • To put transport arrangements in place for service users ranging from children and young people to vulnerable adults, ensuring education transport is arranged in accordance with school transport policies.
  • Play a central role in undertaking periodic clean-sheet route reviews of the school transport network and social services transport to ensure best use of public money.
