Tritlington Church of England First School is a small, rural school in a wonderful setting, just 6 miles north of Morpeth near the A1. We are seeking to appoint a hardworking, trustworthy and committed caretaker who takes pride in their work and enjoys a welcoming workplace where their efforts are valued to start as soon as possible.
The successful candidate will be a key holder, ensuring the security of the buildings and contents, health and safety monitoring and will be expected to deliver the full range of caretaking, maintenance and general repairs, daily cleaning duties and completing the relevant paperwork, as set out in the job description. This is a varied and interesting role and you must be able to work effectively as part of a team, be friendly, approachable, conscientious and have the ability to readily adapt to differing priorities and work well under pressure. Previous experience in general maintenance and health and safety regulations would be desirable. However, training will be available for aspects of the job to ensure compliance with health and safety at work. Please note this is a non-residential post. Set hours are 7am - 8am and 4.30pm - 6.30pm daily. A visit to our school is encouraged. Duties and key result areas:
- Ensure self and colleagues comply with Health and Safety legislation and other school policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the security of the property and ensuring required access is available.
- Carry out mid-week lettings.
- Responsible for holding up to 4 sets of keys (including base site) during periods of annual leave.
- Ensure cleaning standards are maintained and undertake cleaning related tasks as required.
- Operation and maintenance of heating and associated tasks.
- Monitor usage of utilities (gas, electric etc.).
- Monitor and report the general condition of the property, undertake minor repairs and ensure routine maintenance/DIY tasks are carried out in a timely manner.
- Ensure that all ventilation, access and exit points operate effectively and that fire fighting appliances are readily accessible and properly maintained.
- Ensure that external areas of the property are kept free from litter and debris, bins are emptied regularly and main access routes and agreed areas are kept clear of leaves, snow and ice.
- Undertake porterage tasks.
- Stock management, ordering of cleaning materials and assist with the receipt and safe storage of goods.
- Ensure that all janitorial equipment is fit for purpose and properly maintained.
- Attend training events as and when required.
- May be required to provide cover at other sites and any other duties appropriate to the nature, level of the post and grade.
