Would you like to contribute to the regulation of councillor remuneration and influence the way councillors are reimbursed for their public service? Middlesbrough Council is seeking volunteers to join its Member’s Independent Remuneration Panel to examine and recommend allowances paid to Middlesbrough Councillors and co‑opted members.

We are looking for two conscientious people who:

  • Have a strong connection to Middlesbrough
  • Have knowledge or experience of local government
  • Are politically impartial

Unfortunately, you will not be able to join the Panel if you are:

  • Employees of Middlesbrough Council
  • A person who is also a member of an authority in respect of which it makes recommendations or is a member of a committee or sub‑committee of such an authority
  • A person who is disqualified from being or becoming an elected member of a local authority.
