Overview

There is an exciting opportunity to join our Libraries team as a Library Duty Manager. This is a part-time (16.5hrs) temporary position, managing Seaham Library and two community branches at Murton and Easington Colliery. You will manage day to day operation of assigned library venues to ensure a high-quality, safe and efficient service enjoyed by users. As a Library Duty Manager, you will act as an advocate for the library service, proactively encouraging and supporting customers to enjoy a positive experience.

What is Involved

Week 1 and Week 2 rotas are below.

16.5 hours per week, 12 month temporary contract.

  • Week 1: Monday 9.00am – 7.15pm; Friday 9.00am – 4.00pm.
  • Week 2: Monday 9.00am – 7.15pm; Friday 9.00am – 4.00pm; Saturday 9.15am – 12.45pm.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the day-to-day operational supervision of the assigned libraries, managing the safety of both customers and staff.
  • Ensure that the assigned libraries are clean, maintained and presented to a high standard.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of services and programmes of activity within assigned venues.
  • Work with and supervise volunteers, placements and work experience students as required.
  • Assist in promotional work and audience development activities as required, including customer surveys, data gathering, merchandising and distribution of marketing content.

What Will I Need?

You will need an NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline and a First Aid qualification or willingness to work towards. Please refer to the attached Person Specification for the full criteria.

Interviews
