We have an exciting role on offer within our Access & Safeguarding service as a Housing Solutions Officer. At Middlesbrough, we truly live our values and incorporate them into everything we do. About ACT (Accessing Change Together): This is an exciting time for Middlesbrough as we develop ACT, an integrated service that brings together council staff and partner organisations to provide a range of support and interventions in relation to Housing Support, Homelessness, Domestic Abuse and Substance misuse. ACT uses a shared case load management system to make it easier for service users to access the services they need and for staff to share information to improve outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with Adult & Children’s Social Care, Public Health and other services to develop consistent pathways and effective processes.
  • Carry out homelessness assessments in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, make statutory decisions, assess needs and formulate personal housing plans.
  • Complete early morning sweeps and attend rough sleeper drop‑ins.
  • Arrange temporary accommodation, make referrals to supported accommodation services and assist service users in obtaining accommodation in the private and social sectors.
  • Work creatively with service users, drawing on experience with a range of services, to provide tailored support.

  • Ability to make decisions in line with statutory guidance.

  • Working environment: flexible with the option of blended working (home and office where appropriate).
  • New staff can expect a warm welcome, full induction and support from the Director and Chief Executive.
  • The vacancy is fixed term until 31st March 2027.
