About the Role

Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant
School: St. Matthew’s Catholic Primary School
Salary: £24,253.15 (SCP12) – actual salary £28,598 whole‑time, pro‑rata
Start Date: 1 March 2026
Contract: Full time, 37 hours per week (8:30‑16:30 Mon‑Thurs, 08:30‑16:00 Fri), term‑time only plus PD days, permanent

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to teachers and staff in delivering the curriculum to students.
  • Assist in the planning, preparation and delivery of classroom activities.
  • Support individual and group work, fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify and support students’ educational and developmental needs.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal conduct and safeguarding awareness.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Committed to the values and ethos of a Catholic school.
  • Flexible, approachable, adaptable and enthusiastic about working with children.
  • Evidence of willingness to participate in induction processes, continuous professional development (CPD) and training.
  • Possess a satisfactory Enhanced DBS from the Disclosure and Barring Service; will undergo an online search for shortlisted candidates.
  • Experience in educational settings preferred but not mandatory.
