We are seeking to recruit a Stop Smoking Advisor to work within our Public Health Team, delivering tailored, evidence-based stop smoking support predominantly within a hospital setting. The post holder will play a vital role in creating a person-centred approach to quitting, ensuring smokers—particularly those from priority population groups—receive the right support at the right time.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and healthcare professionals within secondary care, providing specialist advice, guidance and support on stop smoking services to patients, professionals, visitors and members of the public.
- Deliver evidence‑based behaviour change interventions through face‑to‑face and telephone consultations, ensuring conversations are tailored to individual needs.
- Set up, coordinate and deliver stop smoking interventions within secondary care and community settings as required.
- Record and maintain accurate data within designated clinical and team systems, working flexibly across settings.
- Promote and encourage appropriate referrals to the stop smoking service, targeting priority population groups.
Qualifications
- Hold a relevant professional qualification (minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) or have significant experience working within smoking cessation or behaviour change.
- Experience of working within stop smoking services or a related behaviour change role, with a proven ability to deliver person-centred interventions to individuals and groups.
- Experience of partnership working is essential.
- National Centre for Smoking Cessation Training (NCSCT) Level 2 training is desirable.
- Enhanced DBS check required.
