We have an exciting role on offer within our Community Learning Service as a Engagement Officer.

About Us

As a key member of Middlesbrough Council’s Employment Hub, the postholder will lead the delivery of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) programme. This role encompasses programme coordination, community engagement, and direct support for individuals, helping them overcome barriers and secure employment opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships with partners and local employers creating employment pathways to local jobs.
  • Promote a collaborative approach across all key partners to develop an impartial and holistic offer to local people that meets a wide range of needs and works to remove barriers to employment.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of sector skills needs, labour market information, and local economic priorities.
  • Responsible for all UKSPF marketing and recruitment activities.
  • Attending recruitment and employability events for Tees Valley residents.
  • Provide strong CEIAG (Careers Education, Information, Advice, and Guidance) and support.
  • Identify and engage with those who are eligible as UKSPF clients.
  • Support all UKSPF clients, giving robust IAG, signposting and removing employment barriers.
  • Ensuring all UKSPF clients have an action plan with a clear and realistic progression route.
  • Work alongside Middlesbrough Council’s 50 Futures Development Officer to promote volunteer opportunities within the local authority.
  • Work alongside Middlesbrough Council’s Employment Hub.
  • Responsible for collecting, logging, and collating deliverable requirements plus output and outcome evidence for funding claims.
  • Complete monthly/quarterly returns and be able to support with audit queries.
  • Achieve UKSPF targets and complete monthly performance reports for MBC management.

Please note, this is a fixed term vacancy until 31st March 2026.
