The successful candidate will join the Community Protection team, a multidisciplinary service dedicated to safeguarding residents, tackling anti‑social behaviour, and maintaining public safety across the borough. We are recruiting for a Community Protection Officer who will deliver frontline enforcement and engagement activity. The post holder will play a vital role in improving community confidence by addressing local concerns, supporting vulnerable residents, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
The Community Protection team works proactively to prevent and respond to anti‑social behaviour, environmental crime, and wider public safety issues through a balanced approach of enforcement, education and partnership working. This work directly contributes to creating safer, cleaner neighbourhoods, enhancing residents’ quality of life, and supporting the wider authority’s priorities around community wellbeing and resilience.
Responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for investigating complaints, undertaking enforcement action and working closely with residents and partner agencies to resolve community protection issues effectively. They will be expected to reduce incidences of anti‑social behaviour, ensure compliance with legislation and deliver visible, timely and effective interventions that improve local environments and increase resident satisfaction.
In addition to core duties, the post holder will be expected to maintain accurate case records, prepare reports, attend multi‑agency meetings and provide advice and guidance to residents, demonstrating strong communication, problem‑solving and organisational skills in line with the person specification.
The role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, sound judgement and the ability to manage a varied caseload while working both independently and as part of a team. Experience in enforcement, legislation or community safety is desirable, however relevant skills and knowledge can be developed within the role through training and ongoing professional development.
