St Alban’s Catholic Primary School is an average sized primary school in the heart of Pelaw, Gateshead. We are seeking to appoint a passionate, professional and highly motivated individual to join our supportive and successful team from October 2026, or sooner, if able.

St. Alban’s, Pelaw requires a committed, innovative and exceptional teacher to support leadership capacity across the school. This post would be ideal for a teacher who is looking to develop their core subject leadership portfolio, and/or is ready to progress to middle leadership.

We are seeking to appoint a middle leader who:

  • is an exceptional classroom teacher with a proven track record across the primary phases
  • possesses a thorough knowledge of the full primary curriculum from design to delivery and can lead, mentor and coach colleagues in developing their practice
  • will make a significant contribution to the Catholic life of the school
  • is a firm, unrelenting advocate of inclusion, safeguarding and SEND
  • can employ inclusive classroom strategies as well as intervention programmes to support pupils’ learning
  • can support ECT development
  • is confident in supporting parental engagement
  • can support as a designated safeguarding lead
  • has high personal and professional standards and will lead by example to motivate, inspire and support colleagues in all areas of school life
  • has good phonological knowledge and can foster a love of reading in our pupils
  • seeks to capitalise on extra-curricular visits to develop the lived experience of our pupils
  • has excellent communication skills and is able to work effectively with all stakeholders
  • understands the benefits of multi-disciplinary team working between the health, education and voluntary sectors to maximise support for our pupils with complex needs
