We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our busy Management team in Barnstaple dedicated to looking after the exceptional environment of North Devon - made up of its coastline, moors and historic urban and rural settlements centred on the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of Braunton Burrows. The area provides an outstanding quality of life for its residents and a positive working environment in which you will find an ideal work-life balance.
Operational Services is seeking to appoint a Supervisor to:
- Provide supervision and technical support to maximise the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of the Waste & Recycling services.
- Be based at Brynsworthy Environment Centre and have experience of dealing diplomatically with a cross-section of employees and customers.
- Supervise the Yard team who run the baling and sorting equipment, ensuring traffic operations in the depot are carried out safely and efficiently.
- Supervise the Street-scene team ensuring streets are kept clean and litter bins are emptied on schedule, as well as ensure the Toilet Cleaners keep on top of their daily cleaning schedules.
- Carry out inspections of field and site operations to ensure compliance of operations to safe working practices, to minimise relevant hazards.
- Use a variety of IT apps/packages to carry out appraisals, manage sickness levels, deal with disciplinary issues and general staffing issues.
Be able to work from 8am – 4pm predominantly, with occasional 6am – 2pm shift, working Monday to Friday and a Saturday following a bank holiday. Knowledge of waste management & street cleansing operations, along with knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, is desirable. Full training for every aspect of the post will be provided.
