North Devon Tyres Ltd is an independent, family-run tyre specialist established in 1983, with branches across Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.
We provide tyre services for retail, agricultural and commercial customers, both in-depot and through our mobile service.
Our team works in a practical, customer-focused environment where safety, technical accuracy and service standards are central to everything we do.
As we continue to expand, we are opening a new depot in Chard and are seeking a strong leader to oversee its successful launch and ongoing performance.
Role Description
The Branch Manager is a full-time, on-site role responsible for the day-to-day management, performance and smooth running of our new Chard Depot.
You will lead a team of tyre technicians and depot staff, ensuring all workshop operations, mobile service activities, customer interactions and safety procedures are carried out to the highest standard.
This role involves overseeing workload planning, stock control, equipment maintenance, customer service, sales performance and compliance.
You will work closely with senior management to implement company policies, maintain operational efficiency and support the long-term growth of the depot.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and develop depot staff to achieve strong performance and service standards
- Oversee daily workshop operations, tyre fitting and mobile service activities
- Plan and allocate workloads to ensure efficient use of resources and timely job completion
- Drive sales performance and support initiatives to meet depot targets
- Ensure all work is completed safely, accurately and in line with company procedures
- Manage stock control, including deliveries, inventory accuracy and regular stock checks
- Maintain depot equipment and ensure operational readiness
- Handle customer enquiries, quotations, service reviews and build long-term relationships
- Support HR-related activities including training, performance management and employee engagement
- Maintain depot premises and grounds to meet Health & Safety and compliance requirements
- Manage basic financial and administrative duties and record-keeping, including payments.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in tyre depot, automotive, fast-fit or service-centre management
- Strong knowledge of tyres, vehicle servicing and workshop operations
- Excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills
- Customer-focused approach with the ability to work under pressure
- Experience managing teams, stock and operational processes
- Basic financial and administrative skills
- Proficiency with common office and point-of-sale systems
- Full UK Driving Licence (preferred/required)
- Previous experience in the automotive, tyre or mechanical service industry is advantageous.
