What You’ll Be Doing

  • Teaching & Inspiring
    • Deliver engaging, hands-on and theory-based sessions in Bricklaying across Levels 1-3.
    • Teach a wide range of practical skills including brickwork, blockwork, cavity walls, and setting out.
    • Bring additional trades to life, including rendering and basic plastering.
    • Create exciting lesson plans and learning materials that make construction skills accessible and enjoyable.
    • Support learners in building confidence, employability skills, and professional standards.
    • Provide meaningful feedback that helps students grow and succeed.
  • Assessment & Quality
    • Plan and deliver assessments in line with awarding body and college standards.
    • Track and support learner progress with accurate and timely records.
    • Contribute to quality assurance processes and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Supporting Learners
    • Encourage positive attitudes, good attendance, and strong work ethics.
    • Adapt teaching approaches to meet diverse learning needs.

What We’re Looking For

  • Essential:
    • A strong background in Bricklaying with solid industry experience.
    • Level 3 (or above) qualification in Bricklaying or Construction Craft.
    • Experience in rendering, plastering, or related trowel trades.
    • A teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd, Level 5 Diploma in Education & Training) or willingness to work towards one.
    • Assessor qualification (TAQA/A1) or willingness to achieve.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a workshop environment effectively.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience teaching in Further Education or training apprentices.
    • Internal Quality Assurer (IQA) qualification.
    • A current CSCS card or recent industry CPD.
    • Experience working with both 16-19 learners and adult students.
