We are excited to present the opportunity for capable and experienced specialty doctors within Emergency Medicine at NCIC. The successful candidates will work as part of our 'Senior Decision Maker' rota alongside Higher Specialist Trainees and RCEM Credentialed Senior Advanced Clinical Practitioners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Be involved in the initial reception and management of patients attending the ED.
  • As a capable and experienced ST4+ clinician, you will be expected to independently manage the department overnight, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
  • Be involved in the full spectrum of Emergency Department patients including resuscitation and assessment of seriously injured and ill patients, dealing with complex cases, paediatrics and minor injuries.
  • Assist the consultants and senior nurses in the running of the shop floor, ensuring that patients are seen by appropriate staff in a timely fashion and that junior staff are appropriately supervised along with nursing staff and medical students.
  • Assist in maintaining flow of patients through the department and support national Quality Indicators.
  • Undertake some administrative responsibilities, for example, reviewing x-ray and pathology results.
  • Have the facility under the auspices of the Emergency Consultant to develop special interest for clinical research and to undertake audit projects or support audit projects of the junior medical staff.
  • Share the responsibility of conducting an observation ward round in the Emergency Department.
  • Actively attend, participate and contribute towards teaching sessions for his/her own team as well as colleagues of varying levels.
  • Maintain and develop own skills and learning.
  • Maintain professional standards and obligations as set out by the GMC.
  • Adhere to Trust Policies and Guidelines.

Education and Qualifications:
  • Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practice.
  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
  • Current certification in: ALS/ACLS, ATLS/ETC, and APLS/EPLS.
  • Desirable Education: Postgraduate Royal College qualification. Evidence of attendance at or qualification in expedition wilderness medicine or humanitarian course or qualification in above.

  • Minimum of 36 months working in Emergency Medicine.
